(WELL, NO IT ISN’T. IT IS JUST THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE A POOR RELATIONSHIP WITH IT)

Here at Contemporary Athlete specialization is not only the norm it is what this place is designed for. To celebrate sport, and to excel at it, so as to honor your competition with your hard fought journey.

We operate on a solid foundation of minimalistic components. These are the things that separate Contemporary Athlete from your traditional gyms. We look at the ever scary barbells, as your graduate degree in badassery. So until you are ready for them, they will happily live in the corner of the gym.

Through the application of past, and on-going education rooted in hands-on personal experience, this has given us the edge in training a vast range of athletes, from youth through heavily experienced. Intensity is high, and excellence is expected. We all have bad days, and the family of athletes here is what will get you through some of the hardest training you have ever done.

STRENGTH I: BODYWEIGHT

IN 45 MINUTES WE WILL GET YOU UP MOVING, HEART PUMPING, AND READY TO TAKE ON YOUR DAY.

By just using your own bodyweight as resistance we will build strength, and mental conditioning, and the ability to recover quickly. This is the foundation that we build off of. Mobility first, resistance second.

Lot’s of people move lot’s of weight around everyday, terribly. We want to skip all that noise, and just teach you to be an exceptional mover. Whether it’s 5 pounds or 500 pounds it should always look exactly the same. We will teach you to move, then we can teach you to move stuff.

STRENGTH II: BELLS & BEASTS

GROW YOUR STRENGTH

Also only a 45 minute class. Bells and Beasts is designed to build off of that baseline strength you have created in our bodyweight programming. By taking the next step and incorporating the kettlebell to add resistance.

We continue with our mobility driven programming in our bodyweight classes and now start to learn, and incorporate fundamental kettlebell movements and progress into advanced programming. This is designed to prepare you to graduate into our strength III format. All clients here are athletes. Even if you don’t know what kind yet. The kettlebell is such a fundamental tool here and it's the next step in helping you find your inner ninja!

STRENGTH III: HIGH PERFORMANCE

IN 45 MINUTES WE WILL GET YOU UP MOVING, HEART PUMPING, AND READY TO TAKE ON YOUR DAY.

This training Session is 90 minutes in length. In order to ensure that performance goals are met our groups are kept small. This way we can monitor technique effectively and that there is safe application of progressive overload. guy-box
The Athletic Performance Training Program consists of:

Dynamic warm-up: (30 minutes)

  • Flexibility: foam rolling, static stretching & dynamic flexibility
  • Movement Prep: corrective exercise & mobility -- full range of
  • motion and movement proficiency

Strength & Power Development: (30 minutes)

  • Power: linear/lateral plyometric, Olympic lifting, Weightlifting
  • Strength: multi-joint movements, accommodating resistance &
  • progressive overload

Conditioning: (30 minutes)

  • Interval Training: high Intensity, low intensity, acceleration &
  • deceleration, endurance based
  • Energy Systems: sports specific conditioning
  • Nutritional Guidelines: tips & nutritional information

This is the most advanced of our programming and you must complete our Ninja 101 Program and 6 weeks of our Strength I & II programs before moving to our HP format. Or you may test out of Strength I & II and into Strength III. This is to protect, and keep YOU Safe!

STRENGTH TRAINING FOR WOMEN

NO MIRRORS, NO MEAT-HEADS. JUST WOMEN. GET COMFORTABLE WITH BEING STRONG.

This class is designed to get your heart pumping, your metabolism revving, and your muscles firing. We use various equipment such as trx, kettlebells, medicine balls and more to help you reach your goals. Whether that's to be stronger, faster, or just shed some weight. Work hard, and have fun doing it.

Unlike any other fitness class in the capital district, our unique exercise protocol provides Progressions and Regressions for all exercises to ensure that all individuals are working in a safe and effective environment!

Sessions are 60 minutes in length. Groups are limited to 10 women to ensure adequate technique coaching and optimal results!

POWER-LIFTING / WEIGHTLIFTING

IN 45 MINUTES WE WILL GET YOU UP MOVING, HEART PUMPING, AND READY TO TAKE ON YOUR DAY.

Contemporary Athlete’s Barbell club is designed to move towards the technical excellence and mastery of the fundamental competitive barbell movements; the Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, Clean & Jerk, and Snatch. This program is limited due to its coach-intensive attention to detail. (6-8 ppl.)

Put your hard work to the test on the platform and participate actively in Weightlifting and Powerlifting meets.
