Are you a runner? Have you plateaued? Are you working with somebody that keeps telling you that running more will make you faster? Are you hurt? Injury prone?

Running, and running injury free, isn’t about mileage or speed. It's about efficient wattage output over a sustained amount of time. You are either slow and you don’t care or you want to go faster. Slow is easy. There are lots of slow people but at the end of the day you are moving, which means you are 10,000 steps faster than the person watching the marathon on TV eating chips and dip.

So what makes you “fast-er”? It’s the ability to keep everything moving together with efficient stride dynamics and power output. So are you powerful? Well if all you are doing is running, then no. It is likely that you are not powerful. You most likely lack core strength, upper body strength, and the framework to keep you moving efficiently for a 5k, 10k, 15k, half or full marathon, or even a half or full Ironman.

Running fast is about putting it all together and staying injury free. (That means strong. Strong = Fast. It’s called science and we use it here in the CA.)
