Dave

Owner

As the founder of Contemporary Athlete. In 2012 after years balancing a career in the art world with coaching I started CA to serve our Clifton Park community with fitness that actually fits real life. I know what it’s like to juggle long days, old aches, and limited time. That’s why our approach is personal, pain-smart, and practical: semi-private coaching, clear plans, and steady accountability that meet you where you are.

We’ve watched neighbors cross finish lines, return to pain-free movement, and find the energy to show up for the people who matter most. Our mission is simple. Coach the human in front of us, build habits that last, and help busy professionals feel strong, capable, and confident in and out of the gym.

If that sounds like you, We’d be honored to help you get there.

Julie

Director OF Business Development

With over 20 years of experience in the fitness industry, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people move better, feel stronger, and create lasting lifestyle changes. I began by leading large group fitness classes, where I built a passion for motivating people through energy and community! I later began working one-on-one with clients to deliver more customized programs and then expanded into individualized nutrition coaching. My mission is to empower clients with simple, sustainable strategies that support both physical results and overall well-being.

Coo

Hi, I’m Coo!

Director of Customer Relations
& Assistant Strength Coach

My fitness journey began six years ago, after I spent most of my life thinking the gym wasn’t for me. I originally joined to lose some weight and be a healthier version of myself, and for my family. What I found was so much more.

I fell in love with strength training, kettlebells, and most of all the community. In 2022, I turned that passion into a career by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer.

I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late to start. Fitness is for everyone—no matter your age, background, or experience. My favorite part of being a coach is helping people realize they’re stronger than they ever imagined.

Ian

Director of Programming
& Head Strength Coach

Hey I’m Ian!

I grew up playing sports and spending as much time as possible outdoors. With all that activity came my fair share of injuries. Years of being active and recovering from it led me to a powerful realization: I wanted to help others move, feel, play, and ultimately live better.

Now, I get to do just that. I love helping people understand how their bodies work and showing them just how strong and capable they truly are.

Kaylie

Assistant Strength Coach
& Stretch Therapist

Hi, I’m Kaylie!

I started coming to CA in 2017 and quickly fell in love with training and pushing myself. That passion carried me through 10 years of competitive rowing, where I finished at University of Louisville, where I also earned my degree in Exercise Science. Now, as I begin nursing school, I’m excited to keep coaching and helping others discover just how strong and capable they can be.
